Great White & Big E,
The fishing trip in Alaska went off better than expected. Actually, it was three trips in one. Because each leg of the fishing trip was entirely different fishing.
The first leg on Dune Lake, we caught many Rainbows in the 4 lb class, as well as big Grayling and large Lanclocked Silvers. The second leg was on the Klutina River for King Salmon, I got a Trophy King Salmon that weighed 52 lbs, and Jim & Greg followed in short order with 49 & 47 pounders. We were done fishing for Kings by 4:30 AM, so we were able to shoot the rapids and go up river and spot checked a hole and caught and released another King. We then went fishing for Grayling & Dolly Varden on Ultralite rods and had a ball. We went up a tream that fed Klutina Lake and fished for Dolly Varden that were hanging out for the spawning Sockeye Salmon's eggs. We caught enough of them that we were tired of fishing. While we could see lots of evidence of Bears, we didn't see any, so I did not have to try to kill any of them with my fishing rod or filet knife fortunately. I think the bears would have won that battle. The third leg was Halibut fishing out of Valdez, Alaska. The weather was gorgeous and the Halibut fishing was just about as good, we limited out on two Halibut each, actually more but we caught some of the limit for the other three guys on the boat. No monsters, but Greg & Jim did get a couple over 100 pounds.
Cheers,
Bob
Thanks for this report Bob, I'm pissed I missed & sure Marty would of loved to be there also... TEN
